Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present the “East – the motherland of the human race and European civilization”, which is the typical perception of the Orient, on the basis of XIX century’s English, French, German, Russian poetry and prose belonging to Romanticism. There have been analyzed the romanticized India, Egypt and Caucasus.
