Abstract

With the development of new lyrics Chinese poets renounced classical poetic forms. Under the influence of European poetry free verses appeared. During this period the poetry in prose also begins to be popular. New poetic style had broken the former rules of rhyme and rhythm in versification. The treatise “The rules of versification” written by Wen Ido was the reaction on this phenomenon in Chinese literature of 1920’s. It created new rules of rhyme and rhythm and tones’ position in Chinese poetry. The Chinese poetry of the beginning of the XX century was enriched with new genres.
