Abstract

In 1993 the ruling LDP as a result of a split lost its power that held for 38 years and the coalition cabinet era began in Japan. But the first coalition cabinets ran into insurmountable problems, such as necessity to come to an agreement, readiness to make compromises, the threat to lose peculiarities of parties’ policy etc. All these problems had to be solved by the parties in the shortest time.
