Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the role of the power of imagination in the spiritual practice of Hasidim. Particular attention is paid to sermons, which deal with the participation of the tzaddik in this form of worship. This texts indicate that every tzaddik must not only overcome the harmful effects of ideas that are far from reality, but also he have to fully surrender to those ideas. The sphere of the imagination is the place of ordinary consciousness. But it must also be properly organized and directed, turning into a reliable tool of service to the Creator. Thanks to this, the righteous shepherd gains power over ordinary people. This is achieved not only by ascension to the Upper World, but also by the descent to level of understanding reality of ordinary people. It is important to remember that this concept was preached to all those who came to the gathering of Hasidim. As in the time of the birth of the movement, so in our days it invariably contributes to strengthening the authority of the tzaddik.
