THE FACTOR OF ‘HARD POWER’ IN THE MIDDLE EASTERN POLICY OF THE USA IN THE BEGINNING OF XXI CENTURY

Abstract
The content of the categories ‘power’ and ‘hard power’ in American historiography was examined. The mechanism of realization of ‘hard power’ concept by the United States in the Persian Gulf was reviewed. Contents and meaning of humanitarian intervention concept for the system of relations in the Persian Gulf were studied. Motives of transition and dominant objective of ‘smart power’ policy of the administration of B. Obama were explored.
