Анотація
Протягом останніх десятиліть існування незалежної Бірми модерністські елементи у складі національної еліти, які частково опиралися на британську колоніальну традицію, під брендом створеної в 1988 році Національної ліги за демократію пройшли шлях від крихкого політичного конгломерату, пов’язаного нерівноправними відносинами з військовими модерністами генерала Не Віна, до формування жорсткої та патріотично налаштованої партійно-політичної владної вертикалі, яка стала правлячою партією за результатами парламентських виборів листопада 2015 р. НЛД, очолювана своїм незмінним лідером Аун Сан Су Чжі, виявилася здатною залучити до співпраці впливового генерала Туру Шве Мана та інших модерністськи налаштованих військових. Їхній значний політичний потенціал у перспективі може бути використаний лідерами НЛД для зміцнення своїх політичних позицій і сприятиме подальшій консолідації національної еліти країни.
