Анотація

Автор статті пропонує власну реконструкцію подій, що відбувалися у Східному Середземномор’ї упродовж кількох років після офіційного завершення ІІІ Сирійської війни (вищезгадана війна тривала протягом 246–241 років до Р. Х. між царем елліністичного Єгипту – Птоле-меєм ІІІ Евергетом і володарем держави Селевкідів – Селевком ІІ Каллініком). Насамперед, пропонована реконструкція базується на основі поєднання свідчень “Хроніки” Євсевія Кесарійського і “Бревіарія від заснування міста” Флавія Євтропія (Euseb. Chron. I, 251; Eutrop. III, 1, 1). Зазначені свідчення, у поєднанні з інформацією, що міститься у творах Юстина, Полієна і Полібія, вказують на дуже поступове та болісне вщухання воєнного конфлікту між державами Птолемеїв і Селевкідів. Цей процес тривав протягом 241/240–237 років до Р. Х.; до того ж він відбувався на фоні так званої Братовбивчої війни, що велася між Селевком ІІ Каллініком і його молодшим братом Антіохом Гієраксом. Зокрема, Селевк під впливом перших успіхів у війні проти свого брата здійснив невдалу спробу повернути собі Ефес, котрий відійшов до Птолемеїв згідно з мирною угодою 241 року до Р. Х. У відповідь Птолемей Евергет надав військову підтримку Антіоху Гієраксу, з яким він до цього перебував de jure у стані війни. У результаті Каллінік був змушений зробити територіальні поступки на користь Єгипту, щоб умовити Птолемея ІІІ розірвати союзницькі відносини з Гієраксом. Так, селевкідський цар відмовився від сирійського Дамаска і, ймовірно, від фінікійської Ортосії, котрі були його своєрідним утішливим призом, здобутим під час ІІІ Сирійської війни. Окрім цього, Селевк ІІ в односторонньому порядку відправив до Александрії свого дядька і тестя Андромаха, котрий мав стати гарантом виконання володарем держави Селевкідів його нових забов’язань. Як відомо, цей царський родич перебував у єгипетському почесному полоні аж до 220 року до Р. Х.
